I purchased your program back in December of 2024 to help me understand my maternity rights. I work for a police department, and as many know, it is a very male-dominated field. When I found out I was pregnant, most of my supervisors were male and couldn’t answer many of my questions. I had a few female partners who had been pregnant before, but even then, many of them shared they were only able to take a short amount of time off depending on what they had “in the books.” I quickly learned that our agency does not pay into a State Disability Insurance. Thankfully, I had already purchased my own short-term disability policy through Aflac, because I had planned ahead for a future pregnancy. Eventually, I was directed to our HR department and received an automated breakdown of my available FMLA/state time. The HR analyst was responsive and helpful, but honestly—if it weren’t for your program, I would not have known what questions to ask or how to truly advocate for myself. I also want to add that your tracking calendar was tremendously helpful, especially for someone like me who is a visual learner. Being able to see each block of time laid out clearly made all the difference in understanding how my leave would flow and how to maximize every part of it. I don’t know how often you receive messages like this, but I want you to know that although I was hesitant at first, I am genuinely glad I purchased your course. Your program helped me understand the differences between FMLA, disability, what my options were, and how long I could take off—even without state disability. I gave birth to my baby in May 2025. My last day physically reporting to work was May 14th, and May 23rd was my official last day off “on the books.” If I had only depended on the accrued time I had “in the books,” I would have had just three paid months off. But because I knew what questions to ask, I discovered that our agency had additional options available for paid time. Because of that, I’ve been off since May 23rd and will be returning to work the week of January 11th — which totals a little over seven and a half months at home with my baby, with three weeks of baby-bonding time still remaining. I’ve truly enjoyed being able to spend this time with my baby. Thank you again for creating a resource that empowers women—especially those of us in male-dominated careers—to understand our rights.
