My situation was a little complex in that I was navigating parental leave at a huge worldwide corporation not located in my state (where I was). It was a maze of paperwork, vague corporate handouts and I was lost with nobody that I could really talk to. I knew I needed some outside help that could navigate the whole situation. I wish I found her before spending hours trying to research everything on my own, it would have saved me SO much time! My parental leave with my first was an absolute disaster that left me in tears multiple times and without payment for FOUR months because my HR didn't help me AT ALL. My company is based in another state and therefore they didn't realize/didn't tell me that I had different laws and protections. I left months on the table and my pay was so delayed (and originally declined) because I didn't file appropriately on time. I was completely unsupported and knew nothing and I vowed to not let that happen again. I am in sales and a lot of my pay is commission based so it's a delicate balance trying to navigate what I should take vs what I am entitled to but I am at least so grateful that I can get what I need, budget accordingly and make informed decisions this time around! I have already recommended Maximize my Parental Leave Consulting to multiple friends and family members and will continue to do so anytime people bring up pregnancy, maternity leave etc!!
